Advice from music industry experts

Submit a question to the website and a panel of industry experts are available to provide an answer. Among them is ‘Deptford’ John Armitage, a freelance guitar technician, lecturer and owner of the Guitar Hospital chain of instrument repair shops.

“As a freelance touring guitar technician with over 30 years experience I still remember how hard it was to get established in live music.

"A site like this gives everybody a chance to enter into an industry that was a closed shop for many years.

"Agreeing on some standard training and qualifications can only unify the live music industry in the long term as fresh ideas and people will always be needed.

"As someone who left school with no qualifications I have realised that it doesn’t mean you can’t gain qualifications in later life – and so called ‘normal’ jobs don’t suit everyone!”
