Make-up artists apply make up - and usually style hair - for performers and presenters appearing on stage.
The style of make-up and hair depends on the type of production. It varies from straightforward, contemporary make-up and hairdressing to more creative and specialist techniques, e.g. for different historical periods and nationalities, ageing or special effects. Some actors may need to wear a wig and the make up artist will acquire, store and care for wigs, as well as dressing the wig and attaching it for the actor so that it is secure.
