Museum assistant-technician

The primary role of museum assistants/technicians is customer service. They welcome visitors, provide information and answer questions for visitors about the museum. Museum assistants/technicians can work in a wide range of museums. They can vary from small, local collections to large, interactive attractions and nationally recognised institutions.

Museums assistants/technicians can also be involved in specific museum-orientated tasks such as:

  • Caring for artefacts and exhibits
  • Mounting and looking after displays and exhibitions
  • Ensuring the safety and security of visitors and exhibits.
