Fundraisers work in all sectors of the creative industries. Their role is to raise money for a specific organisation, event or target. Charities such as museums, galleries, the National Trust and English Heritage all require fundraising to some extent.
Fundraisers specialise in telling organisations and individuals about the work of their charity. They persuade them to make donations for their cause. Often, fundraisers sell products or services in exchange for money, where the surplus is added to the charitable cause.
Fundraisers often have a variety of different functions. However, in large organisations, fundraisers may specialise in areas such as major donors, or nationwide publicity. Fundraisers often also work to specific targets set by and organisation. They may also be involved in recruiting, coordinating, supporting volunteers to the organisation.
