Welsh museum appoints new director
David Anderson has been appointed as the new director general of Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales.

He will take up his new role in October this year and is currently the director of learning and interpretation at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

On his appointment, Paul Loveluck, president of Amgueddfa Cymru, said: 'Amgueddfa Cymru plays a vitally important role in the life of the nation. People feel passionately about it and the national collections in its care. David Anderson shares that passion and will be a leader who will enthuse about the role the museum can play in Welsh life.'

Mr Loveluck added that the cultural leader is 'well placed' to take forward his vision on making the institution a 'world class museum of learning and further enhancing its contribution to the cultural life of Wales'.

His appointment comes at a time when the institution is developing a National History Museum at St Fagans and converting the first floor of the National Museum Cardiff into the National Museum of Art for Wales, due for completion next summer.ADNFCR-1392-ID-800002461-ADNFCR
