Waterloo East theatre is getting ready to open its doors for the first time on September 2nd and has announced the programme for its first season.
Situated under a railway arch at Waterloo East station in London, the theatre's owners aim to provide an affordable venue for the capital's audiences.
The season will open with a one-person show written and performed by Aidan Dooley, one of the theatre's founders, and will be followed by two more solo shows.
Founder and producer Gerald Armin commented on the opening of the theatre: 'I aim to programme unexpected, exciting and entertaining fare.
'The only thing I want to be predictable about Waterloo East theatre is the cost of tickets - always affordable - starting from GBP 10 and we'll have a 'pay what you can' night within the run of every show.'
Disused stations and railway arches have become the latest trend in performing arts, with stagings from the Old Vic using a tunnel under Waterloo and a new performance of The Railway Children currently on show on Waterloo's old Eurostar platform.
