The organisation for the UK design industry D&AD has announced its list of nominated and commended students at this year's Student Awards.

As many as 83 student teams have been nominated for a prestigious Yellow Pencil and 200 teams made it 'in-Book'.

These students will not be in the running for a Pencil but will be published in the Student Annual and have been commended for producing some of the best work of the year.

This year saw a 20 per cent increase in applications for the awards, with more than 3,000 teams from universities throughout the UK entering the competition.

Greg Quinton, education chairman of D&AD commented: 'It's been a tough year for graduates and professionals alike. It's clear there's great talent out there and we all have to work that bit harder to stand out.

'That can often lead to groundbreaking creative thinking and I look forward to seeing these names crop up at the professional awards in a few years.'

Winners will be announced on June 29th and the professional awards will be held on June 3rd.
