Manchester museum gets eco-build
The Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) in Manchester is undergoing a GBP 7 million environmentally-friendly redevelopment project.

Recycled concrete, steel and wood fibre is being used for the new museum, which will see the creation of new galleries, a restaurant and learning and conference facilities.

Toilets will have recycled tiles, worktops will be created from old yoghurt pots and old banknotes will be re-used to make signs around the site.

Visitors will also be able to walk along an interactive trail throughout the building, which will provide more information on how the recycled materials were used in construction, such as reused aggregate and steel.

Councillor Nigel Murphy, Manchester City Council’s executive member for the environment, said: 'MOSI does an excellent job of celebrating our city's proud industrial past, and so it's entirely appropriate that the centre should be used to showcase new environmentally friendly technologies, which will play an important role in our future.

'I'm sure visitors from all over the world will find the information about recycled materials just as inspirational as the museum's other exhibitions.'ADNFCR-1392-ID-800001472-ADNFCR
