Former Riverdance principal and Birmingham resident Colin Dunne will form part of the line-up at the second annual
International Dance Festival Birmingham, it has been announced.
Other professional
dancers from a range of styles include the Ballet Nacional de Cuba and the professional dancers from the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
From April 19th until May 15th, the festival will invite professional and amateur dancers to watch a number of events held throughout the city.
Birmingham-born Dunne will perform his first ever solo show, Out of Time, to local audiences, offering a 'contemporary take' on the Irish dance style.
The show had been nominated for an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance.
Produced by
DanceXchange and Birmingham Hippodrome, the festival will show more than 70 performances from 25 companies from all over the world, including Brisbane-based circus and dance act C!RCA.
The festival is funded by the
Arts Council England West Midlands and Birmingham City Council.
