Eden festival celebrates art

Residents and visitors in Eden Valley in the north-west of England are celebrating the local creative industries this summer with a major festival.

Best in Eden runs throughout July and August and sees nearly 200 cultural institutions and individuals entertain visitors and show off their wares.

Large organisations from the area will sit alongside smaller ones, giving every local artist, craft maker or chef to play their part in the region's cultural heritage.

Organised by Eden's local arts development agency Eden Arts, the event will also feature other aspects of the area's culture, from lake trips, agricultural shows to music and food festivals.

Adrian Lochhead, Eden Arts director, commented: 'We've been overwhelmed with the fantastic response from people organising events and running courses and workshops right across the district and now have a huge calendar of exciting and varied events to celebrate in the summer - we can't wait to celebrate all that is Best in Eden.'
