Diversify scheme for museum careers
A new grant scheme, called Next Steps, has been created to offer more career prospects for under-represented people in the museum industry.

People who are in the middle stages of their career can apply for a grant of up to £2,000, as part of the Museums Association's (MA) Diversify scheme.

Under-represented people from ethic minorities or those who are deaf or disabled can receive support in a variety of ways including training in leadership, having specialist coaching or studying abroad.

Caitlin Griffiths, head of workforce development and events at the MA, commented: 'We are really pleased that through the Next Step Grants we will be able to support up to 25 individuals to create their own bespoke programme of professional development.'

She added: 'Getting into a museum career is hard enough but ensuring people can develop themselves and progress is also a challenge.

'Often it isn't easy to find the opportunities or support needed to develop the skills and knowledge to progress to the next level in their career.'

Applications for the scheme close on May 10th.
