Design students get 'baby pencils'
Design students from across the globe were recognised this week at the D&AD Student Awards, held in Spitalfields in London.

As many as 13 students were given coveted 'baby pencils', which will provide them with a major boost in their professional career.

Taking Student of the Year at the ceremony was a team from Kingston University, Jessica Reynolds and Serena Wise.

They answered a challenge set by event sponsors Ikea to promote the new catalogue and created a book of swatches that allow consumers to play with colour combinations.

Commenting on their win, Greg Quinton, chairman of D&AD Education, commented: 'Like the original concept of flat pack brand Ikea, the colourwheel idea was brilliant by simply and boldly challenging the conventions of the day.

'Organising the site by colour and product not only creates an elegant navigation system but makes the product the hero.'

There were 28 second prizes and 44 commendations at the ceremony, with other students making it into the D&AD annual.ADNFCR-1392-ID-458082723-ADNFCR
