Five community groups from a range of backgrounds and local visual artists have worked together on a project to be displayed in York City.
People with mental health issues, learning difficulties, older people and homeless people worked with three artists to create 24 paintings on the theme of the city walls.
It forms part of a wider arts initiative by York Archaeological Trust, the Arts and Culture Service at the City of York Council and Hungate Regeneration.
The community artists used the ancient walls as their inspiration to create the pieces, which will be displayed on Hungate Hoardings for the rest of the year.
John Walker, chief executive of York Archaeological Trust, commented: 'Projects like this are an important part of building stronger communities and we've been really pleased with the level of interest from local groups that has enabled us to run this project for a fifth consecutive year.'
Contemporary artists have found a new space to display their work in York at
St Mary's Church, which has become a unique setting for art insulations.
